Dr. Sarah W. Mackey
I am excited and passionate about strengthening the capacity of the nonprofit sector. Through my work with Habitat for Humanity International, and my addiction to volunteerism and community involvement, I have immersed myself with opportunities to educate, empower and equip others.

I earned my doctorate in public administration at University of Illinois Springfield studying the relationship between fundraising and boards of directors for nonprofit human service organizations.  I also earned my MPA and graduate certificate in nonprofit management from University of Illinois Springfield and I received my undergraduate degree in economics from Hanover College. I have also earned the  Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification, Certified Communications Professional (CCP) credential, Certification in Volunteer Management (CVA) credential, and a certificate in fund raising management from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.  I am an adjunct professor in the College of Public Affairs & Administration at University of Illinois Springfield.  I love the opportunity to put research and theory into practice in nonprofit organizations in order to strengthen the impact of the nonprofit sector.

  1. Dear Ms. Mackey:

As a communications professional specializing in nonprofit, I just signed up to follow your blog. You’ve accomplished a great deal relatively early in your career. I share your passion for nonprofit and regularly blog about communication and management strategies to help nonprofits increase efficiency and meet mission. Since we share professional interests, I thought we could learn from each other.
